Hello BEAUTIES! I hope everyone is great! 🙂 I’m sitting at my desk with stitches in my gums! Yes, stitches. Not the kind of sewing I wanted to be happening yesterday but I needed a minor surgery inside of my mouth, I’m glad for that to be done and even happier to be here posting a review on this GORGEOUS coat for you all! 🙂 I took the extra time to pattern match the window pane print and it couldn’t have been more worth it! The patterns I used to make this are Simplicity 8177 and 1016. I have a review below on the coat pattern, hope you enjoy! Have an AWESOME weekend! Happy Sewing and I’ll talk to you soon! 🙂

Pattern Description: Coat, or vest and knit top. – Simplicity 8177
Pattern Sizing: 10 – 18, I cut size 10.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, I made a few additions/changes to the pattern.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes they were great instructions.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I have been wanting to sew a simple long coat for a while now and this pattern is great for that. My favorite part would be the ease of sewing, and overall simplicity.
Fabric Used: Window Pane Ponte Knit from Joann fabrics
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I made a 3 inch wide by about 80 inch long tie belt and added a buckle to the end of it. Also added belt loops at each side seam and I borrowed the shoulder tabs from Simplicity 1016. I omitted the pocket/flaps and the back seam/vent.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I will make this again next winter season in a solid color. I do recommend. Theres a ton of options with fabric selections and design touches you can add.

Very Olivia Pope! Love it! Did you make the dress or shirt you’re wearing under it? I’ve been looking for something like that!
I really like the look of this sweater coat! Love the windowpane fabric and you did a good job matching it up! Enjoy wearing it.
I love this! The windowpane fabric is a great match for this pattern. I’ve overlooked this Mimi G pattern, but now I’m reconsidering after seeing your coat!
