Hello Readers! Today I got my lesson on lighting 101! I tried to go out and take pictures for the blog early in the morning, bad idea! Lighting is important! It was a little gloomy out today so that didn’t help. Nonetheless here I am with Today’s post! This super cute DIY Tie Dye Dress! I hope you all like it! Pattern Review + Style Info below! Please Like, share anything you find interesting. & don’t forget to comment so I know what you all want to see! XOXO
Style Info: I wanted to keep a beach wave look with the hair, later ended up picking it up with a coording DIY headband in the same fabric wrapped into a hair tie. (Headband Tutorial coming soon). This dress is pretty casual but I wanted to play around with Jewelry. I have a feminine purple studded necklace in a few of the pictures later I took a long necklace wrapped it once close around my neck and let the rest hang (That was my favorite look).

Pattern Description: McCall’s 6886 Close fitting pullover dress
Pattern Sizing: 6-14, I cut size 8 although I probably should have cut the 6.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? A little. I altered per usual!
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, these instructions do a good job at walking you through.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I like patterns that can be easily altered and this is one of them! Stand alone it is a great pattern as well.
Fabric Used: Blue/Pink Tie Dye Cotton Spandex Knit from Girl Charlee
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I measured from the armpit down about 25 inches to the front and back pattern pieces and out from the bottom center fold about 18″ to create the A-Line or swing dress look. I also left the hem of mine unfinished so the dress would “Flow” better. I feel weird not hemming though I must admit!
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, probably in a longer version and with sleeves for the Fall!

Very pretty dress! I absolutely adore this fabric in the style you designed from this pattern! I have a similar tie-dye fabric that I wasn’t quite sure what to do with… Mine is woven not a knit, but this is still a very pretty style! Thank you so much for sharing!
Myra you are so welcome! I often play around with patterns and rarely sew exactly what they’re designed for, I’m glad you like it. the fabric is buttery soft! Thanks you for stopping by! 🙂
